Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal, Special Cell, Pune

Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal, Special Cell, Pune is constituted vide Government Resolution dated 23.07.2003 to represent the Maharashtra State concerning irrigation water demand and the state's claim in this context more forcefully, coherently, and diligently before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal. The cell works to provide legal support and representation for the state in the tribunal proceedings. This includes preparing legal documents, formulating arguments, and coordinating with legal experts. Subsequently, the work of the Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal is handed over to this office by Government Resolution dated 17/04/2023. Also, the work related to Special Leave Petitions filed in Hon’ble Supreme Court by the States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa under Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal is transferred to this office vide Government letter dated 26/06/2024. The water utilization of all projects in the Krishna basin in the State of Maharashtra is collected from field offices in the formats prescribed by the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal by a separate division under this Office to ensure that the tribunal's orders are implemented effectively within the state. The Office consists of following Units for carrying out the Works of The Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal, Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal and Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal and Water Utilization data collection.
