Objectives of the State Dam Safety Organisation

State Dam Safety Organisation will,

1. Keep perpetual surveillance of Specified Dams.

2. Carry out test inspections; and

3. Monitor the Operation and Maintenance, of all Specified Dams

falling under SDSO’s jurisdiction to ensure continued safety of such Specified Dams and take such measures as may be necessary to address Safety concerns that are noticed with a view to achieve satisfactory level of Dam Safety assurance

In addition to this SDSO will also,

1. Monitor perpetual surveillance of Canals.

2. Carry out test inspections of Canals; and

3. Monitor the Operation and Maintenance, of all Canals of Water Resources Department falling under jurisdiction to ensure continued safety of such Canals and to develop attitude to inspect regularly Canal Network to avoid loss of property, crops due to breach or failure of Canal Network.
